2016 sees label boss aubrey release his first full ep on solid groove since 2003. a1-time level bypass is a peak time 12 min long bass groove with alien noises throughout. b1 rangoose, is a unreleased track originally made by aubrey in 1998, heavy in nature for the purists. b2-mf-104 is a 120bpm deep house track more suited for a 7am play, with lush echos from the rare moogerfooger mf-104 delay limited to just over 500 units made.

cadenza music opens up its 2016 account with the debut single from swiss producers, rare movement feat. disco channel. cutting their teeth on the dj circuit for many years, and playing alongside such esteemed jocks as seth troxler, ricardo villalobos (who mastered the audio on these tracks), jamie jones and luciano (who ultimately signed this single to cadenza), the guys have crafted a pair of tracks that sit right in the dj sets of the aforementioned company. rare 007 combines tension building synths and a wandering bassline, wrapped up tight in solid drum groove, its hypnotizing tones carving out a most useful club tool. on the flip side, rare 011 digs deeper, with cinematic string sweeps over the sparse and bass heavy kick drum. flashes of vocal refrains and micro percussion fly in and out of the arrangement as the melodic elements give this one a real sense of drama as the track blossoms into life. a very accomplished debut from the guys will no doubt provide a real dancefloor moment in the right setting, and no surprise that villalobos gave these tracks the audio master that they deserve.

having dropped some of our favourites from the last year on labels like mr saturday night and autonomous africa, we are very happy to welcome these guys to the ten thousand yen family. weird, trippy rhythms, space echoes and chaos held together with hard percussive sound. so sick.

this is the fifth release on the 6-volume surgeon reissues label srx, collecting together an important selection of one-off tracks and highly limited rarities. fivo appeared on a release on round records and pagga featured on the underground uk compilation release by kickin records. the b-side features 2 tracks from the mythical thx1139 which was previously only available on 50 white labels in 1996.

currently causing quite a stir on the underground, the jerome hill remix of marshall jeffersons s trax classic lost in the groove is a complete re-interpretation, solid jacking (hard) house music using the original vocal that s cut loud onto the vinyl and worms inside your head and has been doing serious damage in the clubs and festivals last year. now with all licensing and red tape cleared away, it s set for release. dancer boom boom is actually a collaboration between acid legend adonis and sidney winters, with a mix down by house legend frankie knuckles. this sat on the b side of am a dog on trax records and is rare & obscure to say the least, but once the needle touches the groove you know it s a killer. massive kick drums and mysterious organ scales, this one is a mad mad tune ! produced in 1987 (and sounding like nothing else from that year) it s been given a very slight and very respectful re-arrangement by jerome hill, remastered and cut super loud. strictly limited and if the previous titles on the label are anything to go by, this one will sell out equally quick.
